Born in Manchester in 1976, I attended Manchester High School for Girls, Staffordshire University & Bury College. Having moved to London to work in sales in August 2000 I quickly found a job at Skin Two magazine. In my eight years there, I spent the first five working under editor Tony Mitchell, formerly a senior writer & associate editor at legendary music magazine Sounds & author of two photography books for Carlton. In my time at Skin Two I gained invaluable experience in office management, event production & promotion, consulted on a first season episode of CSI, interviewed the League of Gentlemen’s Mark Gatiss & made appearances on Granada TV, BBC World Service & Five Live & TalkSport.

Looking for a fresh challenge I left Skin Two in November 2008 & took a position as office manager/proofreader for Ignite Hospitality. Operating from the same office I took on work for a record label, Imprint Music, & assisted the label manager on the release of the Senser album, How To Do Battle, writing website copy & email newsletters. The positive work & press gained from magazines such as Kerrang during that time resulted in the band securing a slot at the 2010 Download Festival.

In 2009-10 I worked as a sub-editor for the Tenant Services Authority, which ended when the body was abolished; I now sporadically work for the same client at the L&Q London Housing Association, proofing a wide variety of documents about social housing. In 2010 I also worked as an offline producer for  Couleur 3, the national Swiss radio station, on a week-long project about Serge Gainsbourg. I continue to proof collateral for Ignite & also edited the recent animal-themed book by famed gossip newsletter Popbitch. Examples of all these can be found on the Work page.

As for my own interests, I have an overwhelming & all-consuming passion, one may say obsession, for music. You can find plenty of gig reviews (I’ve been to nearly 300) on my website, plus a few on albums, films, the theatre & football. Other passions are travel (I have visited America multiple times, plus Ireland, France, Germany, Holland, Wales, Scotland, Israel, Switzerland, Spain, Italy & Denmark), art & technology. During the months of August to the following May each year I can be found having my weekend ruined by Manchester City FC.
